Alaina Ray serves as the Neighborhood Development Services Director for the City of North Port, Florida, where she oversees the Planning and Zoning, Building Permitting and Inspections, and Code Enforcement Divisions. Ms. Ray has 18 years of professional planning experience, with 16 years serving local government. Prior to joining North Port, Ms. Ray most recently served as Director of Planning and Zoning in Loudoun County, Virginia, part of the Washington, D.C. metro region with over 400,000 residents and the largest concentration of data centers in the world. Most of her experience has been in Florida, where she previously held director positions for Longboat Key and Orange Park. In addition, Ms. Ray worked as a Project Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Everglades Restoration Project, the largest watershed restoration project in U.S. history. Ms. Ray holds a certified planner credential through the American Institute of Certified Planners. She earned a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and is nearing completion of a Master’s in Public Administration.
