J Scott (he goes by “J”) is an entrepreneur, investor, advisor, author, and partner at Bar Down Investments, focused on buying and repositioning large multifamily properties. Over the past fifteen years, J has bought, built, rehabbed, sold, lent-on and held over $150M in property around the country. J holds strategic advisor roles in several companies and is the author of five BiggerPockets books on real estate investing.

Kristien Van Hecke is an investor, entrepreneur, and partner at multiple real estate development and construction companies. Kristien moved to Sarasota about 10 years ago, started with buying REOs, landlording, and hard money lending, and then moved into development and new construction. Her projects vary from single family luxury homes to development projects of 172 doors. Over the past ten years, Kristien has bought, built, rehabbed, sold, lent-on and held over $70M in property, almost all of it in Sarasota county. Due to her corporate background and ability to analyze data, Kristien was volunteered by the SREIA to figure out the “Canary in the coalmine” signals for the local real estate market. She designed a traffic light tracking system which she has up-kept for over 6 years.
