Ron has been a South Sarasota County resident for 50 years. He and his wife Alison moved here from Michigan in 1973 and have owned several businesses, including Ron’s Restaurant in Englewood which they opened in 1974. After selling Ron’s he went on to complete his formal training in Bible and Ministry. He returned to pastor a local congregation for 12 years and during that time founded Suncoast Christian School. He continues to serve as a leader in his church.
For the past nearly 30 years Ron has been a Financial Advisor and is the owner and Managing Director of Waypoint Wealth Management, a full-service financial services firm which recently moved into their new offices on Manasota Beach Road. He holds his Series 24 Securities Principal License and is an S.E.C. Registered Investment Advisor.
Ron loves and is committed to Sarasota County and has served as a member of several civic and non-profit community service organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, as president of the Friends of Elsie Quirk Library and as a member of the Sarasota County Library Advisory Board. He has also served on the Sarasota County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, as the spokesman for the successful Legacy Trail Extension Referendum and the Sarasota County Planning Commission.
Ron’s three sons were born and raised here. He has three grandsons and three granddaughters who are the pride and joy of his life.
Mr. Andrew Romer Private Sector Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs lead in FEMA Region 4.
Andrew establishes and maintains relationships with private sector stakeholders and state and local government officials and organizations throughout the region.
Prior to joining Region 4, Andrew served as a Private Sector Manager assigned to FEMA Region 10 in Seattle. He deployed to the December 2021 flooding in Washington State, 2022 New Mexico Wildfires, and the recent flooding in Kentucky.
Prior to joining FEMA, Andrew was the lead government relations liaison and advocate for the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. He led a team of four contract lobbyists and built strong relationships with elected officials and agency staff at the federal, state, and local levels. He led initiatives that grew industry partnerships for the university in the areas of Cybersecurity, Supply Chain Logistics, and Additive Manufacturing. Andrew also spent three years working with the Government Relations team at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Outside of higher education, Andrew has held legislative affairs positions for healthcare associations and as a staffer for U.S. Senator Mike DeWine.
Andrew is a native Ohioan and an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati where he studied Political Science. Andrew currently resides in Pensacola, Florida with his wife Allison and his two daughters Annie and Abby. He spends his free time in his woodworking shop, exploring the outdoors, and coaching youth soccer. He is an avid college football fan, particularly The Ohio State Buckeyes, and a rocket and space nerd.
