Alaina Ray serves as the Neighborhood Development Services Director for the City of North Port, Florida, where she oversees the Planning and Zoning, Building Permitting and Inspections, and Code Enforcement Divisions. Ms. Ray has 18 years of professional planning experience, with 16 years serving local government. Prior to joining North Port, Ms. Ray most recently served as Director of Planning and Zoning in Loudoun County, Virginia, part of the Washington, D.C. metro region with over 400,000 residents and the largest concentration of data centers in the world. Most of her experience has been in Florida, where she previously held director positions for Longboat Key and Orange Park. In addition, Ms. Ray worked as a Project Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Everglades Restoration Project, the largest watershed restoration project in U.S. history. Ms. Ray holds a certified planner credential through the American Institute of Certified Planners. She earned a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and is nearing completion of a Master’s in Public Administration.
Adrian Smude has been investing in real estate for over 18 years. He became an accidental landlord in 2002. Adrian attempted to invest again, but his second home ended as a short sale. After 11 years of being a hobby landlord, he discovered his passion for real estate through REIA meetings. Adrian switched his investing niche to Mobile Homes with Land and has been following this path ever since. Adrian is a part of 3 masterminds, including a high level mastermind which he hosts. In addition, he helps facilitate his local REIA, and teaches about his success and failures.
In 1980, Mr. Khleif became the youngest Real Estate Broker in the state of Colorado at the age of 19. While Mr. Khleif has been a principle in over 300 real estate transactions in the years that followed, Al chose instead to pursue a Petroleum Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines. After a brief stint as a Petroleum Engineer for Shell Oil Company, Mr. Khleif moved into sales and marketing.
Lenny is a retired Florida public school science teacher and baseball coach. He received his BS degree and his Masters degree from the University of Tampa. His wife, Anne, is a registered nurse graduate of USF College of Nursing and Master’s degree from USF. They realized that, while they loved their work, the salary and pension programs would not provide financial freedom. Lenny took advantage of early retirement at age 50 and turned his attention to full time real estate entrepreneurship.

Our second speaker of the evening is a home inspector as well as an investor himself. Doug Smith will talk with us about home inspections from an investor’s point of view.
